| This tour takes you by The Bergen Railway up over the mountains to a Rail stop named Myrdal. There is a steady climb for several hours to reach the High Country. At the top are mountains covered by glaciers. There are lakes all along the way. |
| At Myrdal you transfer your
bags to the platform and await the arrival of the Flam Railway. This train ride takes you down a sheer mountain side for a 16 mile run down to the settlement at Flam. The scenery along the way is spectacular. Happy Troupers

Just scroll down the
Kjosfossen Waterfall. That's Glacier melt.
|
| At Flam you transfer your
bags to a Fjord Ferry for the trip to Gudvangen. This turns out
to be the best part of the tour so pay attention. I did not get a picture of our ferry but a faster one passed us on the way. They are very fine boats. Our trip will take us through beautiful Fjords. There are small towns nestled along the banks; some are accessible only by water. |

Town Reflections

| At Gudvangen we
switch from Ferry to Tour Bus for what is described as a scenic ride up
the mountainside to the town of Voss. Yes, we had to switch the
luggage again. Marion asked the Bus Driver, "Will this be a scary ride? If so, I don't want to go." "Oh No", he replied, "I have driven this road many times, it's safe. Just relax and enjoy the scenery." The road was well maintained, two lanes, no shoulders to speak of. We followed a stream up the canyon for the first few miles then we crossed a bridge and began executing a series of switch backs. Marion was seated by the window and would not look out. I must admit all on the bus were anxious as the bus struggled up the steep inclines. Brake or engine failure would have been disastrous The summit across the

Finally
we reached the Stalheim Hotel near the summit. The view from the top is
breathtaking. At the top Marion
confronted the Driver, "You said the ride was not scary, but it was."
"I had to hope you would not be afraid, because you said you would not come otherwise." We arrived at Voss and switched our luggage to the Bergen Train for the last leg of the trip. |
