July 4, 2003  Seagate Party

Birgit Green Gugi

I just want everyone to know what a wonderful 4th of July Party we had at Seagate. Every time we all get together I tell myself what a crazy bunch we are and how much I enjoy this club.

The weatherman did not want to cooperate in the beginning. The deco-crew arrived at 10 AM sharp to make the place look festive. It seems that we need more tables every year because of the amounts of food being served. After a nice big fat shower from above we started over. At least the tables were now clean.

Everything else survived the wind and rain. Burnie Sims, Bill Berg and helpers had put up a tent for the band but at this point we were not sure if the band was pulling through. The "Green Onions" came, hooked up their equipment and all they asked for was a couple of extra tarps. We were ready to go.
The crowd

Of course not many came by boat but when I looked around the corner I saw a fishing boat with lots of pretty flags pull into the marina. And there was "Doc" on "Lucky Strike". We tied "Lucky Strike" up nice and neat and heaved all of Doc's stuff on land.

Shortly after the masses arrived with lots of wonderful dishes to share with everyone. The grills were hot and music was even hotter.

Revelry
"Granola II" arrived with a whole ship-load of people and added to the crowd.

The margarita machine was filled all day - I guess I don't have to get into details about the output.

It was yummy.

The grand finale was the fireworks on Clear Lake which had lots of competition this year from several other locations.

I want to give special thanks to: Deco-Crew (Barbara and Don Tonelli, Tom and Sally Curran, Lizette Schindel and Bill Berg (and kids), Marion and Ed Herndon. ) Thanks to Burnie and Sharon Sims for getting a tent and getting everything together including ice and Jell-O-Shots. Bill Berg for loaning us his margarita machine. Thanks to Jon and Renne Siewers for providing their space and thanks to all Seagate inhabitants for joining in.
