The Louvre

Did I mention the rain?

Well it was threatening as we left for a morning stroll to The Louvre. We decided to walk from the hotel down to the Seine river. Then along the Seine to the museum. We did not want to get there before it opened. We had the whole day.

This is not a trivial stroll, about 5 km the way we went.

At the Trocadaro it started to drizzle.

We did get to see the liveaboard barges along the river.

By the time we got to the Alexander III bridge it was raining heavy duty. >>>

We stood in line in the rain for one hour before getting into the grand pyramid entrance. So much for not getting there too early.

Winged Victory Napoleon Crossing the Alps

Winged Victory is really kind of spooky. Without a face you just stand and wonder.

Venus di Milo Aphrodite, AKA the Venus di Milo, is my favorite in the Louvre.

Such elegance and beauty.

My last photo to conclude this tour.
