The Pulpit Rock Norway Aug  98

The Pulpit Rock is one of the most famous sights in Norway.

It is located in the cliffs above
Lysefjorden. The most beautiful Fiord in the country.

There are two ways to see the Pulpit Rock. By boat or climb it.

Marion and I took the Fastboat. Here is the view of The Pulpit rock from 2,000 feet below.

I used a telephoto lens for this shot. Look real close and you can see people up there

The other way to explore Pulpit Rock is to take a trail up the back side. Its about a three hour climb from a lodge on the back side to the summit. Phil led the way. In the picture above you come out on the ledge on the right .

Note the big crack. Some day it will break off.

Note the point in the upper left.

Thats me hanging over the edge to get the view straight down.

In your mind you know you won't fall, but your gut fills with butterflies anyway.

It rained  lightly on us going up and coming down. We wondered how many made the trip. I counted 250 in the hour and a half we were coming down. We figure there were probably around a thousand that did the 5 hour round trip that day.
