Smith Point Cruise May 4-5 2007

Dave and Lorna Glascock

May 5th cruise to Smith Point was a great success.  The sail over to Smith Point was a little challenged as the wind was on the nose and  blowing around 22 to 23 knots.  The tide was high when we navigated the perilous Larry's cut so a record 14 boats made it through without a bump or hitch. Wind-Swept did not break her record of leading a cruise without actually leading.  New Life took the lead going in to Smith Point and Remedy coming out.

 Arrival
Thanks guys!  Picture 1 does attest to us leading some boats some of the time.

The new electrical outlets at Smith Point were enough that everyone had power with no funny electrical maneuvers. Thanks to all the Land Yachters for the help with our lines coming in. Don Thompson's good organizing had everyone in the right spot along the dock with no trouble.

The shrimp boil was wonderful, Ed and Marion Herndon brought a batch of huge shrimp and Ed and Dorothy Hearon boiled them up for us.
In the usual TMCA style we had a mass of food to go along with the shrimp. Thanks to all for your contributions of food and fun.

When he last adjusted his Clanging Main Halyard at 1:27 AM Doc heard some animated discussions coming from the party area.  He did not Join in.. Otherwise the discussion would still be going on.

Next Morning Departure

Eagles Wings Took off before any one else even thought of leaving. La Mariposa had departed the Evening Before. That left One Power boat and eleven Sail Boats for our ceremonial Departure Parade.  The Departure tim was set for 10:30.  All would Fall in Behind Remedy

In the unofficial race back, Stellar of Course took the first place, way to go Captain Ron. The sail back was very fast under 2 hours, a record for sailing from Smith Point....... I think.
