Yachty Gras Feb 17 2007

This was the eighth Yachty Gras Event held On the Clear Creek Channel.

Its a Mardi Gras Parade where the Floats Actually Float!  This year about 75 boats signed up for the Parade. Some did not make it due to low water. Several, Remedy included, went aground.  In addition to Remedy, TMCA was represented by  Ron and Lynn Eddleman on SV Stellar of Course.  We would be recycling all the Beads we caught the previous Saturday at Mardi Gras on the Seawall.

The Parade starts where Clear Lake meets Clear Creek. It extends past the Kemah Boardwalk  to Marker 7 where it circles back up the Creek.

At The Skippers meeting there was some discussion about the Low tides and the North winds. I decided that the best course of action would be to Move Remedy to Blue Dolphin Marina. Thats where the TMCA Party would be Held that afternoon; we would do our decorations there.

This Turned Out to be a wise move.   At 11:00 I set out and had to Plow across Clear lake

Tides

At Parade Start we would not have made it from our Home.
When Marion drove us Home she had to use Full power .
The Next Day the tides were Worse!
We would Never have Made it Home had we stayed at Blue Dolphin.
