There was a lot of Hoopla about
going through the traits of
Gibraltar but it is so wide (seven miles at the narrowest) that
you can't really tell when you passed
whatever you passed..
It would have been nice for the Captain to Blast the Ships Horn
at the crossing time.
The Map below shows the approximate path of Our Ship Galaxy
on the
morning of passage. You are looking West from the Mediterranean to the
Atlantic. Africa is on the left. Spain on the right. Photos were taken
at points 1, 2 and 3 on the path.
Tangiers in North Africa is Photo 1 below. It was
taken at the time Passage was announced.

About an hour later I took Photo 2 of a passing Tanker. It was
about ten miles away in the haze. Later when studying my photos I
discovered The Rock of Gibraltar was in
the background Haze..
In the Map above the Shield symbol is the Ship location. Gibralter and
the other prominent peaks are shown by Mountain symbols
on the map.

As you can see from the photo
above. The Rock is way over by the
Spanish Shore. The Ships wake shows where we had been. Its
several
miles to the right of our wake.
This is a composite of four Photos taken an hour and a half after the
Tangires photo.
Pass through The Straits of Gibralter
We were still another 450 miles to
Palma that means a full day at sea.
Tonight would be the third, and last, formal dinner. There would be a
special party with Baked Alaska.

Palma definitely holds
the Trumps on Beautiful, well preserved, Historic Monuments.
They also have Great Pizza and Beer.
Mallorca and the Baleric Islands are beautiful Cruising
grounds. We saw Many Sailboats in the Harbor. Moorings has
a
presence here. It could be a great sailing Destination.
