Trellis Bay July 17
JJ is Captain of the day. We are off to
a slow start because
of the festive night before.
The last time I spoke with Luke we planned for
them to meet us at the Fotloose docks. This is a $20 cab ride for
them and required us to return to Road Town. Our Agent suggested we
Anchor
in Trellis Bay and meet them at the plane. Its a short walk from the
airport to the dock at Trellis Bay. It turned out to be a great
suggestion.
Road Town is on the way so we stopped at Footloose and refilled the
water tank. We also got them to change out the VHF radio which was not
working satisfactorily.
Trellis Bay is on Beef Island, which is beyond the east end of Tortola.
With wind from the east we had to do several tacks: Peter Island,
Tortola, Dead Chest, Tortola, Salt Island, Buck Island. Then the
Motor went on because we needed to meet the 6 PM Flight. Finally, we
found
a mooring and JJ went off in "His Dinghy" to
meet the flight.
While JJ was away, we decided to move the boat to a mooring closer to
the
dock. I took the helm and proceeded to run us aground in 3 feet
of water.
"It's Shallow over there," called the skipper of a nearby boat.
"Thanks for the advice," I called back over the din of my engine in
reverse.
"We are moving now." called Gary, "Pick a Mooring over there," he was
pointing to an open one.

JJ was gone a long time. He came back with the news that Luke and Linda
were not on the 6 PM
flight nor the 7 PM flight. We decided to head for dinner at a
noisy little joint called De Loose Mongoose. Then Juli and Gary walked
over
to the airport to wait for the next flight.
JJ, Marion and I ordered
drinks and the Gigantic Cheeseburger. On Sunday it comes with Red
Beans, potato
salad and another veggie. The service was S L O W. It took
1.5 hours. During this time I got to dance with Rose, the cook. JJ had
seen her bopping around the kitchen but now she came out looking for a
real dance. I volunteered to be her partner. It was fun but our
burgers came while we were dancing. I had to stop and eat.

Just as we finished eating Gary showed up with Luke and Linda in hand.
After lots of hugging on the dock, JJ took them to the boat with their
luggage. On a second trip we all got back to the boat for a good nights
rest.
