Moving from the Bay up to Nassau Drive there are four Areas of wetlands

Todville Downstream

TD

This part of the Gully has some Marsh grasses mainly on the north bank. The south bank has Bulk heading that makes a Hard edge and a deeper channel.

Freshwater Pond


Pond
  This pond is found by going into the park on the trail leading to an Observation deck. It is north west of the main gully .

The water is stagnant,  covered with Green slime, and Teeming with Bugs and Insects.

Another View shows Lush growth  around the Pond..  On both of my visits Birds were not present.

Note the well developed Spartina marsh along the South Bank.
There is about 2 Acres of  Gully with Marshlands on the Banks from Todville to Meyer Road.

This city worker was found Mowing along the Bank. I went around to his tractor and praised him for Not mowing the Marsh Grass.
I asked him to be carefull Not to Damage the Grass.  All of the Pictures above were taken October 18, 2007

Marsh Mowing Threatens Wetlands


One Month Later I was Shocked to see Fresh Mowing all Along the Gully.
