ASSOCIATION OF FORMER BASILIANS

Minutes of a Meeting of the Executive

held on Saturday, October 14, 2006

The meeting was called to order at 9:50 in the crypt of the former seminary, by the president, Paul Murphy.  Also in attendance:  Cy Doherty, Norm Frenette, Alfie Graham, and Stan Kutz (recording).

Regrets had been received from:  Dwyer Sullivan, Jim Strickland, Bob Madden, CSB, Jim Carruthers, CSB, and Wayne OReilly.

1.
Paul opened the meeting with a prayer commemorating Basilians who had died recently (Bill Young, Fred Sohn, Larry Fink and Enrique Bravo).  We also prayed for members of the Association who are in uncertain health: Joe Dietrich, Mo Farge, Mike Quealey, Sam Femiano and Pat Coonerty, Jim Strickland, Ed Brennan, Paul Rybicki.

2.
The Agenda was approved as presented.

3.
The Minutes of the meeting of March 4/06 were accepted as presented, with thanks to Anne Murphy, who had recorded them in the absence of the secretary.

4.
Business Arising:  Paul had explored the possibility of a new name for our website ( www.remedyandcrew.com/AOFB.html), and concluded that it would not be worth the trouble to change it.

5.
Reunion Report:  There were 50 attendees, including 37 formers and spouses, and 13 Basilians.  37 others had wanted to attend, but were unable to, for various reasons.  Most were happy with the location (minus the flies).  A few suggested a site closer to Toronto.

6.
Next Reunion:  After some discussion about alternate venues, it was concluded that we probably would not find another site as congenial and inexpensive as Holy Family Retreat House.  The membership will be polled in the next RAPPORT on desirable dates, and whether we might prefer a midweek time (greater availability, less traffic, etc).  In the meantime, Paul will inform Holy Family that wed like to return in 2008, and make a tentative booking.

7.
The Treasurer having experienced a senior moment (regarding the meeting itself), there was no Treasurers Report.  There will be one, however, in the fall edition of RAPPORT.

8.
Norm Frenette raised the question of privacy issues regarding the publication of postal and Email address in RAPPORT.  It was decided to ask members for their views in the next RAPPORT, which will be published in November.

9.
It was agreed to ask Ken Decker CSB to speak to us again at the next reunion.

10.
The meeting adjourned at 11:15 a.m.
